Cycling in Marlborough — for everyone

Whether you've never ridden in a bunch in your life or you're chasing a national title, there's a place for you here. New riders especially welcome — we'll show you the ropes.

Riders on a Cuddon Cycling Marlborough club night
Is this for me?

Yes — whoever you are

You don't need your own bike

We've got bikes to borrow — road bikes for school-aged riders, and track bikes for newcomers giving it a go. Turn up and we'll sort you out.

You won't be thrown in with the fast group

New riders ride together and get a bit of coaching, while the experienced riders do their own laps. You'll never be the one holding everyone up.

You don't need to be fit, or want to race

Plenty of ways in that aren't about winning — come for the fitness, the fresh air, or just the company. You'll get fitter riding with us.

All ages, all levels

From school kids to grandparents, first-timers to Olympians. Every single member was new once — nobody's going to mind that you are too.

A Wednesday club night at Athletic Park
How to start

Your first time

The easiest way in is a Wednesday evening. Through winter we turn the lights on at Athletic Park and ride as a bunch for an hour — a safe, friendly place to ride on a dark evening, with soup or a hot drink afterwards. In summer (October–March) we're out on the track. Either way: borrow a bike, ride with the new group, see what you think.

Thinking about coming down? Get in touch and we'll look after you — or just turn up, you'll be made welcome.

From club nights to the world

They started right here

Every rider on our honours board started on an ordinary club night — kids on borrowed bikes, learning the ropes. Some went on to World Championships, the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. You'd be in good company.
